The challenge

Meridian's prior authorization team was processing 18,000 cases per week with a 6-day median turnaround. Provider abrasion was at an all-time high, and a new state regulation mandated 48-hour decisions on a growing list of codes. Staffing the gap with humans alone was not financially viable.

The solution

Synaptix deployed a multi-agent prior-auth pipeline on the Agent Platform: an intake agent normalizes requests, a clinical-evidence agent extracts context from EHR notes and PDFs, a policy-reasoning agent applies medical-necessity criteria with full citation, and a decision agent issues approve/deny/pend with a clinician-reviewable rationale.
